It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
